Rurouni Kenshin - 11 years of love and still counting!!! XD

Yup, this post would be about my most favorite anime - Rurouni Kenshin!

Rurouni Kenshin is a manga and an anime made by Nobuhiro Watsuki. The story of Rurouni Kenshin takes place during the early Meiji era in Japan. It tells the story of a peaceful wanderer named Himura Kenshin, formerly known as the assassin "Hitokiri Battousai". After participating during the Bakumatsu war, Kenshin wanders the countryside of Japan offering protection and aid to those in need as atonement for the murders he once committed as an assassin. - wikipedia

This is my favorite description of RuroKen: A Manga that encompasses nearly every aspect of greatness. Of which include: spectacular battles, emotion, humor, and romantic comedy.- urban dictionary

It tells about the adventures of Kenshin after meeting Kamiya Kaoru and living at the Kamiya Dojo. Along the way, they met new friends like Myoujin Yahiko, Sanosuke Sagara and Takani Megumi, the Oniwabanshuu ninjas and more.

I first saw RuroKen from a tv commercial after getting home from school. At that time, I was not yet a big fan of anime. I just watch them because I thought they were just ordinary cartoon shows. Upon seeing the tv ad, I decided that I wanted to watch it because it looks nice. But then I could not get home in time to watch it. Gradually, I was able to forget about it. Until one day, when I don't have school, I was finally able to watch it. The very first episode that I was able to watch and one of my favorite episodes too, was episode 30 - A Devil of Vengeance. It was about the fight of Kenshin and Saitou before Kenshin left for Kyoto. The episode was really awesome for me. Kenshin was hot and amazing and the fight scenes were really great. From that moment, I fell in love with the series. And even though some people doesn't like Kaoru because she is just another damsel in distress, she's one of the reasons why I came to love the series. Anyway she's not really a useless damsel in distress because she can also fight ^^ .

I really, really love the whole series - manga, anime, ova's, movie... it's just awesome. Although at first, I did not really like the last ova - Seisōhen, because maybe it would have been better if the whole Jinchuu Arc was shown and the manga ending was kept, I still came to love it. First time I saw it, the ova was just beginning and I'm already crying! Not knowing, that I'm going to cry until the end. I was very, very sad and a little angry but at the same time happy for Kenshin and Kaoru. Even after the credits, I was still crying and almost got dehydrated. lol. It took me weeks before I could finally recover. I could not stop thinking about the end. Until now I still cry whenever I watch it.

I also cried at end of the manga because it was really, really great. Rurouni Kenshin would forever be the no.1 manga/anime for me. Thank God for Nobuhiro Watsuki for making this great series. ^^
The anime is comprised of 3 arcs: Tokyo, Kyoto and the Filler arcs. The Filler arcs contained the Shimabara, German and the Feng Shui arc. 2 OVAs: Tsuiokuhen (4 episodes) and Seisouhen (2 episodes). And 1 movie: Ishin Shishi e no Requiem

My favorite episodes of the anime:

Episode 7 : Deathmatch Under the Moon - Kenshin's battle with Udo Jin-e where he became Hitokiri Battousai

12: Birth of a Boy Swordsman - I love this episode because of Yahiko and Tsubame. And also because of the funny scene wherein Kenshin and Sanosuke was on the roof glaring down at the thugs who cornered Yahiko. Then when Yahiko looked up they hid themselves and made some animal noise.

30: A Devil of Vengeance - Kenshin and Saitou's fight

31: A Wish Unrequited - The 11th year of Meiji, May 14th. On this day, Kenshin Himura returned to wandering once again. And into the pitch black darkness he disappeared, alone.

It is where Kenshin bid Kaoru goodbye before leaving for Kyoto. T_T This is my most favorite episode. I was left speechless while Kaoru was crying.  Most unforgettable episode.

60: The Man who is chosen for Victory - Kenshin and Shishio's final battle. One of the reasons why I love it aside from the fight was because when Kenshin was about to give up or something like that, he remembers Kaoru and was able to fight again. XD

This is it for now. I would be posting about my favorite chapters and quotes maybe later. ^^
